Dream A Dream

The New Year is a doorway to hopes and dreams. We reflect on the past, reprioritize our present, and plan for the future. Yet, we often overlook the power of a dream breathed by God. Dreams are full of meaning, direction, and purpose. People may laugh or dismiss them, but God used dreamers throughout the annals of time.
God has always spoken through dreams. Joseph dreamed and rose to lead Egypt.
Prophets like Ezekiel, Daniel, and Isaiah saw the future of kingdoms in dreams. Joseph dreamed about the Son and became the earthly father to the Messiah. The Apostles dreamed and wrote revelation that still shapes our lives today. Dreams can carry power and divine instruction. They also stir creativity, spark innovation, and move God’s people into His purpose.
Every January, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., so we must remember his dream, rooted not only in justice and equality but also in hearing the voice of God as he recounts Isaiah 40:4-5.
“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.”
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"I Have a Dream” speech delivered on August 28, 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, Washington, D.C.
Maybe 2025 felt like a valley for you, or maybe it felt like climbing a mountaintop. Maybe you walked through “rough” places and “crooked” paths, but take heart! God is still leveling, straightening, and revealing His glory in 2026. One day, every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father. (Philippians 2:10-11)
So what do we do in the waiting while the dream is unfolding?
We continue to dream, plan, believe, and work. We dream because God has work for each of us to accomplish. God gives dreams, so what once felt impossible to people becomes possible.
To the enslaved, freedom is a dream. To the poor, provision is a dream. To the unlearned, education is a dream. To the sick, healing is a dream. To the lonely, relationship is a dream.
To the broken, reconciliation is a dream.
To dream and not work is a waste because dreams fuel hope, and hope is realized through action! Where there is still a dream, there is still hope and the opportunity to become.
So do not give up now!
Some of us cannot prosper until we heal from the wounds of previous years. The scars are proof you survived. Do not throw away your confidence to overcome because God is just and He will ultimately bring justice in the end. God calls His people to humble themselves, turn from evil ways, and seek His face. When they do, He heals our hearts, hears our cries, and heals our land.
Where will you place your hope in 2026?
What dream is God awakening in you today?
Call to Action:
This year, dare to dream again, then take the next step. Write down your dreams and do not let them fade. Pray over them and act when God prompts you to move. God is still speaking to those who will listen because your dream may be a part of His eternal plan.
