Father’s Day - Sunday, June 15
As we head into this special weekend, I want to take a moment to say “Thank You” to every person who participated in the Rites of Passage Manhood Challenge. Your stories are a spark to keep the flame burning for the celebration of good men and leaders. And if you have not joined in yet—there’s still time. Real men, real stories—follow along @EmissaryWay and visit https://www.emissaryway.com/events for updates.
If anyone is wondering why host a Manhood Challenge for Father’s Day?
Recently, I sat among a circle of phenomenal women—leaders, entrepreneurs, and mothers sharing deeply personal reflections about the men in their lives. I listened quietly as story after story unfolded: husbands who walked away, men who refused to accept responsibility, and fathers who, in one way or another, simply did not show up. These women were not venting in anger; they were speaking from a secret place of longing for real connection and presence. They were asking their men to be there for their children, for them.
As I listened, I thought of my own journey. Amid their storytelling, I felt the urge to share an encouraging perspective, but I didn’t. Instead, I listened more intently, absorbing their words and the ache I heard behind them. Silently, I prayed, giving thanks to God for the man I met 34 years ago, the one I am blessed to call my husband and the father of our sons.
A man whose fidelity I never had to question, even during a long military deployment. A father who shows up at recitals, games, teacher meetings, and waits in hospital rooms. A son who still goes the extra mile for his mother. A brother whose loyalty runs deep. A man whose friendships transcend time and space. He shows up for everyone who needs him—consistently, quietly, faithfully for decades. I am so grateful to have THAT MAN in my corner daily, helping me to shine brighter.
So YES, I celebrate not only my husband, David Ferreira, but all the men who choose to lead well.
Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to real men who are raising the standard every day for manhood, brotherhood, and fatherhood.
I salute and honor you!
