Worth Fighting For?

The battle is not always seen, but it is always felt. Stand firm in what is right, even when the enemy works in the shadows.
The battle is not always seen, but it is always felt. Stand firm in what is right, even when the enemy works in the shadows.

One of our biggest struggles is recognizing our true enemy. The real culprit, working behind the scenes, who cannot be defeated with guns and knives or protests and votes. He is the type of enemy that is cunning, deceptive and you cannot see or physically touch him but you can discern his presence.  The fruit of his activities are on display all around us.  There is circumstantial evidence for his existence.

Evidence in the form of pride, self-ambition, greed, and immorality.  Long have they roamed, even dominated, this earth!

People have free will and it can be a blessing or a burden because the will of people can also be easily surrendered and the heart suddenly compromised in this present darkness, when evil finds an opportune time to manifest itself. The enemy grows day by day in unclean hearts and corrupted minds as people cease to care about the good of others and look only to their self-interests. A world (families, church houses, communities, nations) divided against itself cannot stand against this enemy.

So, what is it that you will stand for…even in the “little” things?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy depicts an epic battle between the forces of good and evil. In one pivotal scene, the combined armies of good defeated their common enemy and captured the ring of power designed to enslave the world.

In this victory, we quickly see a turn of events. To save the world, it required the victorious king to relinquish the ring of power; he could not do it. Consequently, the forces of evil regained strength and grew powerful in secret but the light of goodness could not be extinguished even in the darkest times.

How does good survive?

By the courage of the “most unlikely heroes.”

Ordinary people, you and me, who set their minds to do what was right and good.  Outnumbered, maybe outmatched, ordinary folk have stood up against impossible odds because the lives of their families, friends, coworkers, and communities were on the line. IF God is for us (translation: if we are on God’s side according to His plan) then who can stand against us?

Today, we have so much on the line in the battle for our families, schools, workplaces, and communities. The victory was won at Calvary, but the daily battle between good and evil, right and wrong is still being waged in our hearts and minds.

Is there anything in your heart worth standing up, speaking up, and fighting for?

You may be the unlikely hero God chooses to change the tide of the battle.  As the Lord spoke to Joshua…

“This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

The greatest battles are not always visible.

They are fought in the heart, where choices are made and character is formed.

Victory begins the moment you decide what you will stand for.

Take a moment to reflect:

What is God calling you to stand for, even when it is difficult or unpopular?

Identity first. Integrity always. Lead intentionally.

This was a great reminder that the gifts, promises and calling (purposes) of God are worth fighting for. We fight from victory not for victory so let’s continue to fight! It’s so worth it!
